Suggestions

If you're wondering how much time you should spend in Bariloche, what time of the year is best to come, how should you get here or where should you stay at...Relax!

I will try to help you out to organize you trip according to your lifestyle, budget and travel time.

BEST OPTIONS ACCORDING TO YOUR TRAVEL TIME:

If you will visit Bariloche on your way to Calafate, to Chile or Mendoza and you will just spend one or two days here, I totally recomend you to do the following:

Two tours in one day:

Take the Short Circuit Tour (the 9.00 am to 01.00pm outting) and get dropped off at PaƱuelo Port on the way back. This way, you may do the Isla Victoria and Arrayanes Forest Tour showing up for the navigation shift at 1.30pm (book it before) returning at 6.00pm to the port.
You may weather book for the navigation tour with the transportation included back to the Hotel or take the public bus N°20 back to Bariloche.

Two full days in Bariloche:

If you have two days then you can take it easy. I suggest you to do the most traditional sightseeing tours that represent Bariloche and the Nahuel Huapi National Park.

Yes, im talking about Mt. Tronador and Victoria Island with the famouse Arrayanes Forest. These are the two icons you just can miss!

Both tours are on every day so you can organize your itinerary as you wish.

Remember:

Tronador Tour: Pick up at 9.00 to 6.00pm (full day)

Victoria Island Navigation Tour: Two shifts.
Pick up at 10:45am to 07.00pm  (longest option, more than 2hrs at the Island)
Pick up at 12:30pm to 07.00 pm  (a bit shorter, less time at the Island)

The times for the navigation tour are set with the company transportation service included.

BEST OPTIONS FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR ADVENTURE:

Biking:

If you enjoy fresh air and exercising, then doing the Short Circuit Tour by bike will go beyond your expectations.
It's not necesary to have that much training. Just be sure you are able to ride a bike up and down hills and for about more than 2 hours. The circuit is about 15kms long and you may rent the bike for a full day (from 10am to 6pm).

The best part of choosing this alternative is being able to organize your own tour and itinerary, stopping where you want and for the time you wish. You may also take a detour to Colonia Suiza, wich is not included in the Shor Circuit Tour by bus.

You may rent your bike at the agency Bariloche Select with me but will get them at km 18,300 of Bustillo Av. right where the Circuit starts. You may get there by bus N° 20.

Kayaking or Canopy:

Kayaking or Canopy. These are two short options that will leave good memories of you trip through Bariloche. Enjoy contempling nature from the water while you row or flying among the trees if you choose the Canopy.

Both servicies are available all year long and go from 01.00 pm to 5.00 pm. They will suit you well if you're looking for doing something special.

Trekking:

Bariloche has a vast offer in what reffers to trekking areas, trails and mountain huts.
One of the best and easiest options to enjoy hiking with friends or kids in the Patagonian Andes during this winter is taking the tour called Caminata a Laguna Congelada or "Hike to Frozen Lake".

The pick up service is from your hotel at 9.00 am to 5.00pm.
You will enjoy discovering the Challhuaco Valley, 12 kms driving to the south of Bariloche, and will get to visit Neumeyer Hut in the middle of a Lenga forest.
You will be welcomed with a breakfast and after walking for nearly 2.30 hours (to the frozen lake and back), you will have lunch served waiting for you at the Hut.

Ideal to do with family or couple!

Outing: everyday only during winter season.

OTHER OPTIONS:

Discover all the landscapes:

For those with time enough, I totally suggest doing Circuito Grande "Big Circuit Tour", Victoria Island and Arrayanes Forest and Mt. Tronador if you have more than three days. These three are ideal to travel through the most atractive points in what refers to Patagonian vegetation, landscapes and all the main attractions of the Nahuel Huapi National Park.

Winter Specials:

Ski

If you already know how to ski or snowboard or you would like to learn, you ought to go at least for once to enjoy the Catedral Ski Resort.

Mountain Gastronomy

If you like the snow and would like to do something else besides skiing, you have lots of offers that mainly include snowshoeing or snowmobile guided tours followed by some of the best mountain gastronomy at the most incredible and warm refuges:

"La Cueva" at Mt. Catedral.
"El Refugio Arelauquen" at Mt. Otto.
"Roca Negra" at Mt. Lopez.

Nordic Ski

One of the best options as introduction to Ski, for those who have never tried this winter sport before.
You may do this at three places, Mt. Catedral, Challhuaco Valley or at Mt. Otto.
In my opinion, Challuaco Valley is the nicest area due to it's natural landscapes and plain zones ideal to practice this activity.
